ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF...

What’s been the greatest invention of the 21st century? A microwave? A Tesla? The little plastic at the end of shoe laces? Those things are all great but come nowhere close to the impact memes have had on human interaction. The truth is we’ve all spent at least six hours scrolling through Twitter or Instagram laughing at really funny memes before we realize, IT’S BEEN SIX HOURS!!! I’ll never understand why people think millennials have short attention spans; I’d say that they have selective attention spans. Like, if college professors could use Dragon Ball Z memes to explain molecular physics, there would be just a bunch of 21 year olds working for NASA.

So we just gotta watch Dragon Ball Z for homework?

So, why I am starting this blog? The most important thing to understand is that this blog is about my opinion on the things that I see, hear and feel. However, I wanted to give my opinion on things that we can all relate to, otherwise there’s no point in trying to get people to read what I write. One of the ways I think social media has bonded humanity, millennials in particular, is that it’s a space where you can talk about things you thought were unique to you with people that think it’s unique to them. As social media participants, our 'unique' perspective can now be shared among others with a 'unique' perspective about the same thing.

For example, you ever watch a series on Netflix and relate to the characters and plot so much you check your room for hidden cameras? The similarities are so uncanny that you feel like it was made for you, like it’s one of those ‘based on a true story’ type shows and the story is yours. The next thing you know, you hop on Twitter to talk about it and you see messages of people saying they feel the same way.

You know how you get in your feelings and you’ll post a meme that represents the way you’re feeling? I’m saying let’s dissect the feeling you’re having and how the meme represents it. I’m saying; let’s talk about why the scene from that cartoon or that show on really good Netflix show was “factz” or “relatable AF” or however the kids say it these days. Social media, hell, media in general is so important to the way we communicate and how we understand the things happening around us, that we should do whatever we can to understand more. Come understand it with me. Oh, also check out the external links inside this post. Great stuff!
